Wissota Late Model Challenge Series

10th Starting Eder Tops TPO in Epic WISSOTA 100 Opener

The final pair of events for the 2025 Structural Buildings WISSOTA Late Model Challenge Series powered by Momentum Truck Group, Freightliner, Western Star and driven by Minnesota Truck Headquarters kicked off at the I-94 emr Speedway in Fergus Falls, Minnesota for the opening night of the Speedway Motors WISSOTA 100 and saw Cameron, Wisconsin’s Kevin Eder best a stout field of 41 WISSOTA Late Models to win the 40-lap feature after starting 10th and surviving a late race battle with Tyler Peterson during the closing laps.

The night began with Kevin Eder setting fast time with a lap of 16.860 seconds around the clay oval, while Tyler Peterson, Cole Schill, Devin Fouquette, Cory Crapser and Dave Mass topped the five qualifying heat races early in the night’s program. Dan Ebert and Josh Zimpel won the night’s b-mains to set the 25-car feature starting lineup.

Shawn Meyer and Lee Grosz earned the front row for the night’s $3,000 to win, 40-lap feature event with Grosz getting the upper hand on the initial start and leading the field into turn number one and lead the opening lap.

Grosz got the jump on the field and led the opening lap, with Meyer in second. Tyler Peterson and Joel Bennett were side by side for third early as well. Bennett was able to secure the third spot on lap 2, before Peterson was able to race back by and set his sights on the lead duo.

Meyer was staying within striking distance or leader Grosz early as Cory Crapser and Dave Mass were battling for a top five run as well.

Grosz began to slip away from the field and was able to lead the first dozen, while Peterson was working over Meyer for second during the first quarter of the 40-lapper. Once Peterson stole second, he began to run down Grosz out front and cut Grosz’s lead down prior to the lap 11 caution for a Jordan Tollakson spin in turn two.

On the restart, Grosz took back off with Peterson in tow, just ahead of Meyer, Bennett and Mass. Peterson was able to drive deep into turn three and pull alongside Grosz for the top spot, while rookie point leader Devin Fouquette pulled to the infield, ending his night.

Kevin Eder had a great restart and fired off around the bottom, rallying into a battle for 5th with Crapser. The second yellow flag of the night flew for debris. Again, on the start, Grosz and Peterson resumed their battle out front, with Mass, Crapser, Bennett and Eder just behind.

Peterson had a perfect restart and was able to race by Grosz into the lead with Eder quickly to third. Peterson raced alone out front for the next dozen laps with Eder working over Grosz for second as the race went past halfway. Eder slipped by Grosz into second on lap 20 with Kevin Burdick appearing in the top five at the halfway point as well.

Peterson led through lapped traffic as Eder was able to continue his great run around the bottom of the I-94 Speedway and raced alongside Peterson for the top spot on lap 32. The lead pair put on a whale of a show for the fans out front as they swapped grooves lap after lap with Eder emerging into the top spot on lap 38, leading the final three laps en route to his second career series victory.

Following Eder, who rallied from his 10th starting spot and Peterson to the line were Grosz in third, Mass and Crapser in the top five.
