Anderson Ambushes Silver 1000 Field for Third Event Title

The 2025 Structural Buildings WISSOTA Late Model Challenge Series powered by Momentum Truck Group, Freightliner, Western Star and driven by Minnesota Truck Headquarters continued a five night Labor Day weekend swing as the series rolled into the Proctor KME Speedway in Proctor, Minnesota for the 53rd running of the Silver 1000 and saw Elk Mound, Wisconsin’s Ashley Anderson race off the front row to lead all 40 laps en route to his third Silver 1000 championship.

The Thursday night event saw defending race winner Pat Doar trip the clock at a 14.719 second lap to set fast time honors. Derek Vesel, Anderson, Kevin Burdick and Darrell Nelson topped the four qualifying heat races early in the night’s program mains and Kyle Peterlin and Danny Vang won the night’s twin b-main to set the feature starting lineup.

After heat race action was completed, Burdick and Anderson earned the front row for the night’s $3,000 to win, 40-lap feature event with Anderson getting the upper hand on the initial start and leading the field into turn number one and lead the opening lap.

With Anderson leading out front, Burdick and Nelson began a side-by-side battle for second early on with great action ensuring throughout the top ten early with several three-wide battles going on for fourth between Vesel, Dave Flynn and Johnny Broking and for seventh between Sam Mars, Dave Mass and Jake Redetzke.

Anderson continued to set the pace out front with Nelson a close second as the lead duo tried to slip away from the rest of the field with Nelson taking several cracks at Anderson for the top spot just prior to halfway. The top two circled the Proctor KME Speedway side by side for several laps, just inches apart as the race reached the halfway point on lap 20.

Battles continued throughout the field as laps continued to count down. Burdick found something on the extreme high side of the speedway just past halfway and rolled up alongside Nelson for the runner up spot on several occasions, but Darrell was able to keep Kevin at bay.

Meanwhile just behind the leaders, 10th starting Mars and 11th starting Eder were rolling and appeared the be the fastest two cars on the track, while Anderson was trying to negotiate lapped traffic during the race’s final ten circuits.

With Anderson working traffic and Nelson trying to hold off Burdick, both Mars and Eder began to charge with Mars getting to Burdick’s rear spoiler as the white flag flew.

Anderson raced uncontested to the win with Nelson second, followed by Burdick, who nipped Mars at the line for third and Eder rounding out the top five finishers in the non-stop event.

Anderson was presented with an additional $800 lap leader bonus for leading every lap and Eder picked up an additional $500 for finishing fifth in a random drawing amongst feature finishers.

Andrew Inman raced from the pole to lead all 30 laps in the WISSOTA Modified feature and race to his first Silver 1000 title for his efforts. He earned the highest amount of passing points from heat race action, which landed his #11jr on the pole for the feature race.

At the drop of the green, he blasted away from fellow front row starter Austin Chyba and opened up a sizeable gap on the field early on. While he continued to pace the field out front, Chyba, Tanner Gehl and Ryan Gierke were in a great battle for the runner up spot prior to halfway when Jody Bellefeuille joined the mix, trying to race his way into the top three.

At the midpoint of the race, it was all 11’s out front with Inman leading Chyba and Bellefeuille, with Gierke fourth and 14th starting Kaden Blaeser, the race’s defending champion, appearing in the top five.

The race appeared as if it was going to go non-stop until a lap 28 caution flew for Aiden Hoffman, who spun in turn four, bunching up the field and setting up a green-white-checkered dash to the finish.

Inman was up to the challenge on the restart, and he drove off and topped Bellefeuille for his first ever Silver 1000 championship. Bellefeuille crossed the line in second with Shane Sabraski nipping Gierke at the line for third and Blaeser rounding out the top five finishers.
